Our First Christmas as a Family of 3

Well, technically a family of five with our puppy girls. This Christmas was SO special. We celebrated the birth of Jesus in South Carolina at my parents’ and I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter week! We spent time with family and friends, baked treats, read Christmas books and had the best time.

I worked right up to the last second on hand embroidering our stockings, but they had to be perfect before Santa arrived.

Here are a few of my favorite Christmas traditions we have stuck with throughout our lives and we have started this year!

  • Spending time in the kitchen making treats with Gigi

  • Reading “Where’s Santa’s Kitten?” on Christmas Eve

  • Reading about the birth of Jesus first thing Christmas morning before seeing any of the presents

  • Santa brought Roos four things: something to wear, something to read, something he wants and something he needs - mom and dad bought the toys and extra! This year, Santa brought a new pair of jammies, a personalized alphabet book, a train set that spells his name and a water cup

  • Waffles and ice cream for breakfast

  • Baking a birthday cake for Jesus

Overall, we kept it pretty lowkey and it was the absolute best.
